Tweaking A Networking Connection
Modems and network cards need to be optimized to maximize their
performance. There are subtle adjustments that you can complete
successfully with one of these utilitys. They are FREE and not
spyware. Step 1: you need to measure speed. I recommend NetStat
Live from AnalogX .
Download, Install, Run. Choose incoming and outgoing windows.
This is like a chart paper type readout. It will show the flow of
data in and out of your current connection. Make a few test surfs
and log the speed average's. Now the next step.
Step 2: Powertools for hardcore tuneing. Safe and effective is TCP Optimizer
or the Skylam
Utility. Install and run it. Now choose Dial Up or Cable/LAN
style. ***@Home Cable users, goto advanced, chose @home
optimization.*** Dial Up uses usually can accept all the
defaults. Close all programs. REBOOT!. [power off reboot] Now the
new settings have been initiated and you Will notice a speed and
flow apprieciation. This utility is FREEWARE and it worth twice
the price. Check out the freeware links on this site for many
other usefull tools.

How to Clean and Disinfect a Windows
computer.
Symptom's : Slow, non responsive, blue screen, constant popups,
unexpected change's
Identify : Several diagnostic programs are available to scan and
fix-repair compromised systems.
Start with spybot search and
destroy. Download a current version and save it in a safe
folder. Close all running applications, then run the spybot
install package, accept defaults to install. after install if
running Xp , be sure to turn
off system restore first to empty the stored contents that
may be effecting the system and will effect the scan for
trouble's. After turning off system restore then run the newly
installed spybot program. Go to update menu First, and download
the most current updates. Next run the scan. A list [if effected]
will compile. After the first scan,delete the problem files that
are Known trouble's. Adding the spybot hosts file will stop alot
of problems also. I suggest running a second scan or more to
verify the problems are cleared up. Read the doc's , this
application has a larger scope then just spybot removal. Spybot
is effective and simple to use and run on a regular basis to
protect a system. The next weapon in the arsenal is Ad aware.
Pretty much the same process.Download, Install, Run it. On first
run, Update it, then scan the system. Quarintine and delete as
nessessary. Rerun. When system is clean, close. O.K. Next is Anti
virus to protect actively. You probubly know the drill by now.
Download, Install, Run, Update, Then scan and allow it to protect
as you wish. AVG Anti virus
from Grisoft . Next, turn system restore back on if you use
it. A good reboot or two will be nessessary also. Rescan at least
once a week is a good plan, more often if you seem to have
persistant problems.
Once your system is clean, be sure to install all current updates to
your Windows system.
Keeping current on updates will put you ahead of the curve.
